At the end of 2007 a girls class of the Aylesbury High School in Buckinghamshire visited the company Lohmann Technologies UK in Aylesbury. The students were all year 12 studying Design Technology as a part of their chosen subjects. Lohmann UK, founded in 1992, is a subsidiary of the Lohmann Adhesive tape group with headquarters in Neuwied, Germany. The group is one of the few adhesive tape manufacturers worldwide offering the complete value-chain of double-sided adhesive tape production. Operating from its 12,500 ft2 facilities in Aylesbury, Lohmann UK provides tape solutions for a wide variety of applications, in the Transportation, Consumer Goods, Building & Construction, Graphics, Mobile Communications and Medical market sectors. The students from Aylesbury High School have to deal with a variety of projects concerning processing, process control and systems wanted to research these with a well known local company. The head of the school´s department, Jon Lambert, asked Roger Churchill, managing director of Lohmann UK, for "on-the-spot" support. Lohmann UK was pleased to offer the chance for the Aylesbury High School class to visit and see first hand a manufacturing company. The visit was supported by Lorraine Mackay and Paul Summers. They answered many good and searching questions concerning Lohmann tapes and gave a general review and tour of this special business. The students were not only eager to see the premises but also to learn a lot about the versatile aspects of factory work. They thanked Roger Churchill and his team for this very interesting day which definitively helped them with their Design Technology case studies.
