Today multimedia systems in cars are part of life style. And customer preferences concerning the so-called car infotainment are on the rise. Products like MP3-player, DVD-player or car-navigation will gain even more influence in the near future. This means, construction technologies must keep up with this trend. An adequate and innovative technology for various applications in the car-infotainment are adhesive tape systems, often used as individual die-cuts. They show their variable performance in many ways. On the one hand they connect different components reliably and permanently. On the other hand they have, according to the requirements, special features. As foam die-cuts they are used e.g. in navigation systems or CD/DVD-players where they not only seal and cushion but also protect the sensitive device against environmental influences, e.g. dust. For this purpose Lohmann offers single- and double-sided PSA die-cuts with a PU or PE soft foam-carrier which are combined with a high resilient acrylate adhesive. Furthermore, a transparent process-liner on the non adhesive side ensures a simple and accurate positioning of the die-cut. Further, Lohmann developed a customized adhesive solution for CD slots which is supplied with a special dust protective non-woven. Here, the die-cut consists of a transparent polyethylene film coated with a pure acrylate adhesive and is laminated with a special non-woven. This high-definition die-cut is non susceptible to abrasion and features narrow tolerances between +/- 50 to 100 mm. The so prepared moulding is ready for use in the body of the CD player in order to protect the player against soiling. Other die-cuts of the DuploCOLL® range are e.g. used as surface protection for GPS, LCD displays or clima control panels. Beside this surface protection further features of adhesive die-cuts like electrical conductivity, EMI (electromagnetic interference) shielding are also possible.
