In a lithium-ion battery, an adhesive tape does far more than hold components in place. It dissipates heat from cells to the cooling system. It shields sensitive electronics from electromagnetic interference. It prevents a short circuit from cascading into thermal runaway. And it does all of this within a layer that may be no thicker than a few hundred micrometres.

 Lohmann's DuploCOLL product range covers all major functional requirements in Li-Ion battery assembly: thermally conductive tapes (TC) for cooling plate bonding and heat management, electrically conductive tapes (EC) for EMI shielding and grounding, electrically insulating tapes (IS) for high-voltage protection and cell wrapping, as well as PE, PU, EPDM, and acrylic foam tapes for sealing, NVH damping, and cell expansion compensation. All products are available as rolls, spools, or high-precision die-cuts. 

Can Lohmann produce custom die-cuts for our automated battery assembly process? keyboard_arrow_down

 Yes. Lohmann operates in-house die-cutting equipment - including laser plotters and rotary die-cutting machines - capable of producing customer-specific geometries in low µm tolerances. Our application technology specialists also support the integration of die-cut tape solutions into fully automated pick-and-place processes.

 Lohmann is certified according to IATF 16949 - the international quality management standard for the automotive supply chain. Our adhesive systems are tested according to OEM and Tier 1 specifications in our in-house laboratories, including thermal cycling, peel, tack, shear, and chemical resistance testing. 

What is the thermal conductivity of Lohmann's DuploCOLL TC tapes? keyboard_arrow_down

 The DuploCOLL TC range achieves thermal conductivity of up to 2 W/mK, tested according to ASTM D 5470. The tapes are free of solvents, halogens, and silicones, and are available in thickness variants from 140 µm to 2 mm. They fulfil the flame-retardant requirements of UL 94 V-0. 

How do Lohmann tapes support EV battery thermal runaway protection? keyboard_arrow_down

 Lohmann offers customised flame barrier tape laminates with very low thermal conductivity that prevent heat propagation between cells in the event of thermal runaway. These compressible laminate solutions accommodate cell breathing during charge and discharge cycles, fulfil UL 94 requirements, and are adapted to specific cell chemistries and battery pack designs. 

How do Lohmann's electrically conductive tapes replace conventional grounding methods in EV battery assemblies? keyboard_arrow_down

 Traditional grounding solutions in battery modules rely on mechanical springs, wires, or conductive pastes - all of which add assembly steps, cost, and potential failure points over the lifetime of the vehicle. Lohmann's DuploCOLL® EC range eliminates this complexity: electrically conductive foam and fabric tapes provide isotropic conductivity in all three axes (X, Y, Z), enabling reliable grounding and EMI shielding through a single self-adhesive tape layer. The compressible foam variants continuously compensate for part tolerances and the natural movement of battery components during thermal cycling - maintaining constant electrical contact without mechanical fastening. All EC products are available as high-precision die-cuts for direct integration into automated assembly processes. 

Does Lohmann offer structural bonding solutions? keyboard_arrow_down

 UV-LUX is Lohmann's next-generation structural bonding technology for applications that require both precise positioning and high final bond strength.  UV-LUX tapes remain repositionable after initial placement and develop their full structural strength only after UV light activation. Once cured, UV-LUX bonds offer high mechanical strength, excellent chemical resistance, and long-term durability under the thermal and vibrational loads typical of EV battery pack environments.
