“Seeing the machines up close was fascinating – but what impressed me even more was how approachable Dr. Herzhoff is, despite the many responsibilities he carries,” reflects Lars Buchholz.
The Technology Management student from TU Munich spent a full day with our CTO/COO, Dr. Carsten Herzhoff, as part of the Shadowing Program of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation – gaining rare, personal insights into the daily life of a senior executive.
The program has a clear mission: to give young talents an authentic look into leadership in practice, while at the same time bringing fresh perspectives into companies.
During his Shadowing Day, Lars joined strategy meetings, met colleagues from different departments, and experienced our high-tech machines, processes, and products firsthand. What left the deepest impression on him, however, was the strong sense of belonging at Lohmann, the open communication between management and employees, and the innovation-driven way of working.
The experience was equally valuable for Dr. Herzhoff:
“Lars was a very attentive and thoughtful observer. After each meeting, our reflections turned into inspiring conversations. For me, such external impulses are an important source of inspiration – especially from a generation that will soon take on responsibility itself.”
The Shadowing Day made one thing clear: both sides benefit. Students gain hands-on insights into leadership, while we at Lohmann receive new impulses for our everyday work.
We are proud to be part of an initiative that fosters dialogue between generations – because innovation and future readiness grow out of openness, exchange, and collaboration.
