To mark the occasion, Managing Directors Dr. Jörg Pohlman and Dr. Carsten Herzhoff welcomed Neuwied's Lord Mayor Jan Einig and Mayor Peter Jung to the TEC Centre at the company's main site. The visit coincided with Neuwied's participation in the International Weeks against Racism, during which various events were held in the city by institutions and organizations under the motto "Human Rights for All".
By signing the charter on behalf of the city administration last year, Einig officially documented Neuwied's long-term support for integration and the promotion of diversity in the world of work: "Diversity in our city of Neuwied is a strength that we also want to promote and embody in the region's companies. I am therefore delighted that Lohmann has signed the Diversity Charter and is thus committed to an open and tolerant working environment. We are convinced of the economic and social benefits of this voluntary commitment and look forward to continuing to move our city forward together!"
The Diversity Charter is an initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions under the patronage of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
By signing the Diversity Charter, Lohmann is sending a clear signal for diversity and tolerance in the world of work and signalling its appreciation of all employees regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and ideology, sexual orientation and social background.
"Our working world is constantly changing," says Dr. Jörg Pohlman, CEO of Lohmann. "Since our foundation in 1851, sustainable social action and social responsibility have been a high priority in our company. We are convinced that diversity and inclusion are the basis for Lohmann's competitiveness and future viability. By signing the Diversity Charter, we are also sending a clear signal to the outside world - to our employees and business partners."
"Our society is more diverse and differentiated than ever: this makes it all the more important to promote diversity and respectful and appreciative interaction in the workplace. By signing the Diversity Charter, Lohmann is committing to recognising and respecting the diversity of society and its needs within and outside the organisation, says Charter Managing Director Corina Christen. "By signing the charter, you are clearly demonstrating that the diverse needs of employees must be taken into account and firmly anchored in the organisation's internal structures. After all, diversity is not just an attitude that is worth standing up for every day, it also needs to be backed up by action," adds Charter Managing Director Franzi von Kempis.
For Lohmann, this commitment is another important step in its efforts to make the organization and the Neuwied-Koblenz site sustainable and future-proof.
