From classroom to shop floor: Four students explore technology at Lohmann on Girls’ Day

What does it feel like to operate a machine for the first time? Or to organize a warehouse on your own?

For four students, this became reality during this year’s Girls’ Day at Lohmann.
Two placements in warehouse logistics, two in machine and plant operation – sometimes, that’s all it takes to open up entirely new perspectives.

Alina and her namesake, also Alina, explored the world of warehouse logistics. They independently carried out an inventory check, gained insights into operational processes, and quickly realized: a well-organized warehouse involves far more than simply “keeping things tidy.”

At the same time, Liah and Lucy gained their first hands-on experience with a coating machine. They actively participated in the process and learned how adhesive tapes are prepared and joined to ensure smooth production flows. What started as observation quickly turned into real involvement.

In addition to a guided site tour offering insights into the manufacturing of our adhesive solutions, it was above all the opportunity to try things out themselves that shaped the day. A particularly interesting moment for the students was discovering what Lohmann actually does – and how our adhesive solutions differ from the products of our joint-venture Lohmann & Rauscher.

Hubspot-1These are exactly the kinds of experiences that define Girls’ Day:
“For us, it’s essential to introduce young people to a wide range of career paths at an early stage – regardless of traditional role models,” says Sabine Dunkel, Head of Training at Lohmann. “That’s why Girls’ Day is an important building block in promoting greater diversity in technical professions – and part of our broader commitment within our sustainability strategy, especially in the ‘Social’ dimension.”

Our commitment to fostering young talent early on and positioning ourselves as a strong training company is also reflected in recent recognitions: Lohmann has once again been ranked among Germany’s best training companies 2026 by Deutschland Test / FOCUS Money, achieving first place in the chemical industry category.

For us, one thing is clear: creating insights today helps shape the skilled professionals of tomorrow. Girls’ Day is more than just a one-day event – it is a first step toward the future.
