Today, Simone Wierschem is a Senior Application Engineer in the Automotive division. She develops tailored adhesive solutions for customers around the world – practical, sustainable, and in close partnership with industry peers.

A Professional Home with Room to Grow

Simone began her career at Lohmann in 1997 – and right from the start, formed a special bond: a friendship with her fellow apprentice that has stood the test of time. These kinds of Lohmann friendships are a constant in her story – and remain a vibrant part of her life to this day.
It didn’t take long for her potential to be recognized. After gaining initial experience at the company, a senior colleague approached her with a question that would shape her future: could she see herself working in application engineering? HR supported her every step of the way, encouraging her with the promise: "Give it a try – and if it’s not the right fit, we’ll find another path together." That support gave her courage – and it paid off. Today, Simone is a trusted expert in automotive adhesive solutions.

Breaking Through, Shaping Change,
Making a Difference

The journey wasn’t always smooth.
"Being taken seriously as a young woman in a male-dominated field was definitely a challenge," she recalls. But Simone learned to assert herself – and to rely on the strength of her team. Mutual respect and collaboration at eye level were key then and still are today. She now plays a leading role in developing technical solutions for customers – always in close coordination with surrounding departments.

Where Technology Meets Teamwork

What makes her job so special? The blend of technical problem-solving, hands-on application, and international collaboration.
She especially values the daily interactions with people from different backgrounds and age groups. Two of her closest colleagues are from India and Turkey – a cultural exchange that Simone finds deeply enriching: "We’re constantly learning from one another – both professionally and personally."

In her role as an application engineer in the automotive industry, one thing is clear: "Good solutions are created together – as a team, with colleagues and in close partnership with customers." For Simone, this spirit of collaboration is the embodiment of what Lohmann stands for.

Even during a difficult time in her personal life, Lohmann stood by her – with understanding, flexibility, and trust. "I’ll never forget that, and I’m deeply grateful."
